I left Denver traveling towards Wray for what I considered a "business trip". I left Northeast Colorado feeling like a "genuine local". Everyone is so down to earth, welcoming and friendly. I haven't laughed so hard in years! I know I have made friends for life and found my "home away from home". Oh Northeast Colorado...what a breath of fresh air! Just can't wait for that next "business trip"

Elbert County Court House
The Elbert County Court House was built in 1912. Read about the massacres and other historical events on the front lawn of the court house. Elbert County Library (Kiowa) was built in 1903 and was originally a Catholic church.
Wildlife Watching
Wildlife is bountiful in Elbert County. Take Highway 86 in either direction and you are bound to see any number wild animals from several different species of birds including eagles, to elk, antelope, mule and white tail deer, bears, coyotes, wild turkeys and even the occasional mountain lion.
